Having been chosen as persons of the year by Time magazine, billions of netizens all over the world have their own views on this. Many people feel proud of being a member of Time’s persons of the year and appreciate Time’s innovation.
Mr. Wang told the journalist: “The mirror cover of the magazine was very innovative. Why not offer a service in which netizens can put their own photos into the mirror cover and print it out so that they may feel as if they were persons of the year.”
“Twenty-Five and Under” and “American Women” have been respectively chosen as Time’s persons of the year in 1966, 1975. The 61-year-old Sally from the US devotes her whole life to China’s charity career. She said yesterday that she had never thought about being a member of Time’s person of the year three times. “It proves that my life witnesses the change and reform of the society.”
Waner from Siem Reap runs a hotel and also works as a tour guide. He doesn’t know Time magazine and doesn’t show much interest in “the person of the year” either. However, he has a lot to say when it comes to the internet. He told the journalist “The number of net bars almost equals that of hotels in recent years. Many overseas foreigners living in my hotel ask me to take them to the net bar. Then I become familiar with the internet.” What’s more, Waner’s two brothers met their present wives through the internet and now migrate to Japan.” In hope of attracting more tourists, Waner plans to run a website to promote his hotel.
However, the fact that Time talks too much about such websites as YouTube and MySpace makes many netizens believe Time is promoting those websites.
