Chinese state councilor meets former French PM

BEIJING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) - Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan said here Thursday that China attaches great importance to international cooperation in environmental field and will make continued efforts in this regard.

While meeting with former French Prime Minister Alain Juppe, Tang said all countries should combine their efforts to solve the global environmental issue.

Juppe, now mayor of Bordeaux, is also the honorary committee chairman of the Paris conference for global ecological governance.

Tang hailed sound China-France relations, saying China will continue to enhance strategic dialogue with France to boost bilateral relations in a consistent, stable and healthy manner.

Juppe briefed Tang on France's plan for ecological governance, saying France will cooperate with China to contribute to environmental improvement.
