Chinese shares opened slightly higher on Wednesday as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opened at 2,688.96 points, up by 13.26 points, or 0.5 percent.

The index, which tracks both yuan-denominated A shares and hard-currency B shares traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, closed at 2,675.70 points on Tuesday.
