The huge advertising words of "Windows Vista" have been presented conspicuously on the facade of Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai since February 2. Projected full-length on the 88-story structure, this is the largest Vista ad in the world.

Towering over other trophy buildings in glittering Lujiazui financial district in Pudong New Area of Shanghai, the 420.5m-high Jin Mao Tower is a famous skyscraper as the highest building in China and the third highest in the world. On its 53rd to 87th floors, Jin Mao Tower houses the 5-star Grand Hyatt Shanghai Hotel. The whole facades of the tower are glass curtain walls.

According to a member of the Jin Mao Tower property management group, the huge advertising of Windows Vista was launched last Friday on the tower's facade facing the waterfront Bund, which features a vista of colonial architecture, across the Huangpu River. No information is available about how much is paid for the giant advertising on the highest Chinese building.

Before the global launch of Windows Vista, Microsoft's new generation operating system, on January 30, 2007, Vista's advertising was seen in many busy locations of Shanghai like Hongqiao airport and Nanjing Road Shopping Mall. Microsoft Corp. debuted the individual version of its Windows Vista on January 30 across China simultaneously with the global release of the software.

Windows Vista emerged five years after the market debut of the last Windows XP, and this period of time is seen as the unprecedented long interval for Microsoft's release of an upgraded operating system. The world's software giant has pinned much hope on the new operating system product, expecting it to restore the former glory of Windows 95.
