Recently, a logo entitled "China Blog" appeared on the Time Warner website. This is the first time Time has set up the blog for a foreign country and the bloggers are staff journalists. These reporters offer a western view of China and represent a step toward western media being permitted to report in and on China.
The first article of "China Blog" was posted on January 29th. By February 27th, thirty nine articles had been released. There're mainly four authors. Austin Ramzy discussed in one of his articles 'whether the train would bring important economic development to Tibet or destroy its unique environment and culture." There are also discussion on the difficulty of Chinese college students' job-hunting and foreigners' investment on China. Susan Jakes and Simon Elegant once wrote on the overheated Chinese stock market, the shattering role of China's Spring Festival Gala, the standardization of English signs in China, and the impact of Nanjing Massacre-related films on Sino-Japanese relations. Also discussed was China's stand on Iran issues. However, this blog is also tending towards the traditional negative conception of China.
The "China Blog" represents just how important China is becoming in the eyes of the western world.
