A computer with a new-generation CPU produced by China's own research and development, Loongson 2E was launched on Wednesday in Beijing. It was successfully developed by Chinese scientists in September last year. It has now made it from the laboratory to the market.

Xinhua News reported a computer with Loongson 2E uses domestic-made operating systems and office software installation with low-energy consumption and low-priced features. Its performance has reached the level of a Pentium IV processor.

The central processing unit, or CPU, is the computer's operation control center. It has the highest degree of integration on a computer and is the most valuable chip piece of a computer. It will be mainly promoted to the low-priced market in China.
