72 climbers top Mt. Qomolangma this season

KATHMANDU, May 19  -- Nepali Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said over 65 members of 11 teams have scaled Mt. Qomolangma so far this spring, The Himalayan Times reported on Saturday.

According to the daily, 38 Nepalis, eight Americans and six British nationals were among those who scaled the world's highest peak, the ministry said in a press release on Friday.

Other climbers scaling the peak this season were from South Korea, the Philippines, Norway, Egypt, South Africa, Belgium, Ireland and Sweden.

A separate statement said two members and five high-altitude workers of the "2007 Everest (Qomolangma) Silver Expedition of Korea" scaled the peak on Friday.
