Gome (0493.HK), China’s largest home appliances and electronics retailer, announced an order for US$320.05 million (RMB2.2 billion) worth of TVs from suppliers Monday to cater for increasing sales ahead of the Olympic Games in Beijing, China Business News reported. Only 35% of the orders were placed with domestic brands and well-known brands Shinco, Amoi (600057.SH) and Tsinghua Tongfang (600100.SH) received no orders. The top four beneficiaries were all foreign brands: Samsung (005930.SEO) (RMB320 million), Sharp (6753.TYO) (RMB264 million), LG (003550.SEO) and Sony (SNE.NY, 6758.TYO) (RMB220 million each) received RMB1.024 billion worth of orders between them while the top four domestic brands – Hisense (600060.SH), Konka (200016.SZ), Skyworth (0751.HK) and Changhong (600839.SH) – won RMB528 million worth of orders.
